Fabulous Sweeping Entryways & Foyers

The entryway or foyer is the first impression of your home and sets the tone of your design. So make your home’s first impression one that lasts. Treat your entryway as you would any other room in the house and design it with functionality and style in mind. Here are some great design tips to help your entryway make a bold statement!

1. Welcoming Atmosphere: Everyone who enters your home should feel an inviting welcome. Fresh flowers, a pleasant fragrance or fresh scent, and proper lighting make a world of design difference.  Create a memorable first impression!

2. Functionality:  Make your entryway or foyer useful as well as beautiful. Set up a tray, bowl, small table or even an attractive vanity desk for things like keys, mail, coins, sunglasses, etc. Add a coat rack or series of wall hooks, which will be perfect for coats, sweaters, scarves, hats, etc. An umbrella stand is handy for depositing soaking wet umbrellas.  And don’t forget seating, great for putting on or removing rain-soaked shoes or boots! If possible try to include a small bench, side chair or furnishing. Not only will it look great, it will add usefulness to your entryway. Even if your entryway space is small, do your best to work with what you have. Properly designed, your entryway offers not only offers aesthetics, it also offers function, too.
